Acupuncture for Motor Vehicle Accidents

  • When you are involved in an auto accident, it’s important to seek medical attention, even if you only feel minor discomfort.

  • Acupuncture is an effective holistic treatment that can help relieve pain and restore the body back to normal function after a car accident. It is a gentle, safe, and effective treatment that works well on its own or in conjunction with Western Medicine or other therapies.

  • If you do not like needles, we can treat you with non-needle acupuncture. Based on acupuncture theory, non-needle acupuncture is administered in forms of micro-current stimulation, cold laser treatment, cupping and acupressure. (Herbal medicine is also very effective in treating motor vehicle injury. However, it is not covered by ICBC.)

  • In order to avoid your injury becoming a chronic issue, it is best to start your acupuncture treatments as early as possible.

How acupuncture helps to recover from injuries in a motor vehicle
accident

After you are injured in a car accident, one of the most common things to do is reach for over-the-counter pain relievers, anti-inflammatory drugs, or even something stronger. Acupuncture provides a drug- free, non-addictive therapy option for individuals to get pain relief after they have been involved in an auto accident.

Acupuncture can achieve the following:

  • Reduces pain and inflammation

  • Increases range of motion after an injury

  • Decreases stress and anxiety

  • Improves sleep and emotional well-being

  • Stimulates the body's natural healing ability and speeds up recovery.

Acupuncture may be able to help you to minimize discomfort and to return back to your normal routine sooner.

What can acupuncture treat?

After a car accident, you may be experiencing one or more of the following common auto accident injuries:

  • Whiplash (muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries)

  • Soft tissue injuries, numbness, tingling sensation or spasm

  • Musculoskeletal pain, including pain of the extremities, back and neck pain etc.

  • Broken bones, dislocated joints, and herniated discs

  • Head injuries and concussion

  • Migraine or tension headaches

  • Dizziness, insomnia, fatigue, and memory loss

  • Anxiety and PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder)

  • Flare-up of chronic pain from old injuries

It’s important to note that car accident injuries may not always be apparent immediately. Sometimes it can take days or even weeks for an individual to start feeling the physical impact of the car accident
on their body. That’s why it is vital that all individuals involved in a car accident be examined by a doctor or other medical professionals. They may be able to identify issues that the individual isn’t yet
aware of.

Your full recovery is our goal

  • Complete, full body healing without lingering aches and pains

  • A shorter rehabilitation period

  • Better sleep and less emotional trauma after your car accident

  • Less reliance on pain medication

  • Feeling at ease to drive again without anxiety

  • Be able to get back and enjoy your lifestyle prior to the MVA
